Car Radio Unlocking

Hi there, just signed up although I have read this site for the past year or so.

I've got a Vauxhall astra off a dealer but I need the code for the radio, they have told me to take it back to them & they will sort it. However it's a 20 mile round trip so I'm trying to save myself some money by getting the code off a kind member on here.

It's a Phillips Car 400 stereo.

There is a number on the back of the facia that reads: GM 24 465 993

Is that enough info or do I have to take the radio out? I've already tried taking it out & was unsuccessful with the tools at my disposal.

There should be a 14 character Serial Number beginning GM0400******** somewhere on the radio, usually stamped in the metal casing

Ok thanks, so removing the radio out of it's slot is the only way to get the number then.

This is going to be a pain, it's wedged in tight

EDIT: Just found a calculator. It tells me it is 1298 is that right?

Got to wait 20 minutes to put the code in you see & then it will be 40 minutes if it's wrong.
