I'm writing from Europe, having the same problem. Today changed the battery and my stereo (6000 rds in Focus 2002) died.

I need a code, but unfortunately I don't have a serial No. I will try to remove the stereo tomorrow but not having the tools I expect some problems. I've tried with buttons "6" and "1" receiving these 3 messages on the screen:

DP MV 5H
50700012
070200

Is it possible the second number is a serial one? The last one looks like a date of production.
Otherwise I'll have to go harder way (removing the stereo with some wires) in order to reach the serial number?!

Any help???
