a tip for other users; we didn't have any keys to extract the radio but a black and decker jigsaw blade (i know it sounds brutal!!) works perfectly. Also in a ford fiesta 06 reg if you remove the glove box you can reach in and push the radio out gently once the locking pins are released.

Codes for V serials are not available free. Ford or a pro decode service. A google search may bring up some on line shops that will supply for £10 but do this at your own risk.

I disconnected the battery and just bought the car - previous owner does not have the code.

I know its not a ford but can anyone help?

The radio is a GM VDO and its fitted in my vauxhall astra
Serial is:
GM050031812928

Molerat, thank you so much, i did start with good intentions by searching over 70 pages on here to see if you had already given out the code to someone with the serial number M008736 to save you a job of looking it up again,,, but unfortunately, numbers got the better of me and i had to ask. lol So a massive thankyou to you, much appreciated!!!!!
