What does salmon taste like?

I love all kinds of fish and shell fish and especially fresh salmon, even tinned is ok for sea food pasta salads and the like but for those who have only ever eaten tinned give fresh a go it is much more delicate and tasty. I don't buy cod anymore because of the over-fishing, hake and pollack are good alternatives. White fish cooked in the micro and flaked, then mixed into mushroom soup with some steamed veggies and served with cheesy mash is a really cheap n easy dinner.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

I like to marinade salmon for a couple of hours in lime juice and a dash of soy sauce. the juice in effect "cooks" the salmon so you can then flash it under a HOT grill just for a few minuts each side (the thicker the piece the longer you'd leave it for). It's a bit bland if you do nothing with it but the lime juice gives it a lovely subtle tang.0

Let us know if you like it Diane:)
I'm one of those strange people that doesn't like salmon, have had 2 bad experiences with it. I 'want' to like it though but even when it is going cheap at work I avoid it like the plague.
I've always been funny with fish, I would like to try eating more fish as I don't eat nearly enough, probably only a couple of times a month and one of those is from the chippy!:o
I quite like 'fishy' fish like smoked mackerel, I can see how that would put someone off who wasn't into fish. I also like tuna, fresh and tinned, I like tinned sardines and mackerel and love cod from the chippy.0 -
When I cook salmon I always save a bit to have in a sandwich the following day. Gorgeous with a bit of garlic mayonaise.0

I think salmon is one of the slightly fishier fish, but that's not a bad thing, it tastes lovely. Plus, you've bought it with a garlic and herb crust which will change the flavour quite a lot - depending on how strong the crust is, you might not even taste the salmon at all.
Give it a try, you might like it!0 -
A nice easy way with salmon is to bake it in the oven with pesto on the top, and wrap in foil its yummyxxxxxxxxxxPawpurrs x0

I marinade salmon fillets ( aldi/lidl) in olive oil, lemon juice and garlic and then grill for a few minutes until golden on each side. Delicious. Also remember it has omega 3 which will help your heart and brain.Penny xxx
