  • Yeah hopefully the overall trend will be upwards as regards the ISA balance, despite this small hiccup. Touch wood nothing else will go wrong in the near future...

...wishing you a good weekend too ampersand - and everyone else. Hope the car repair isn't too expensive!

Got a friend coming round tonight to watch Leeds v Doncaster Rovers, or should I say to watch Leeds thump Donny ;)

Battery fitted today, with 2-year guarantee; £54 all up.
Could have been worse....might be in fact, suspect I'd be wise to change car, so looked at several in Fenboys' yard....
and I hope my equivalent is All Blacks thumping Oz to make way to Rugby World Cup Final.
Tomorrow's other semi, France vs Wales is v. difficult for me to choose or call.
I'm passionately francophile, while also loving a reinvigorated new Wales, coached by another me, a.k.a. Kiwi Gatland.

Well my Mum is Welsh and my Dad is an Aussie, I call myself half Aussie half Welsh. Fairly obvious the result I'm hoping for this weekend :)

    That will NEVER do.

I fear this one, as we don't have Carter; Dagg's out and McCaw's tooties are dodgy - apart from certain recent defeats.
Will be doing my best from The Snug in Cambridge, but suspect we'll be submerged by Kanga studentry.

  • Hi linz, I liked your signature so I copied it, hope you don't mind..

After the car expense the other week, I think I can claw back the £194 I spent and still hit my end of year target of £1,500.

Haven't had a great deal to report of late as things are going pretty much as planned.

Still looking for ways to earn more cash so I can afford to live in a flat but it's hard.

Thanks for your interest linz, how's things with you?

Hi there MW, I've just read through each of the pages and my god you are a great inspiration.

I have this very minute set up a standing order to pay 10% of my weekly wage into my ISA - i was waiting until the end of this month when I would have a bulk payment from another savings account to deposit, but your story has encouraged me to start early and put a little extra in each week.

Its less than £15 per week, so if its paid out on the same day its paid, I doubt I'll even miss it. :D

Good luck with everything, I'm going to subscribe to you so it'll will keep me motivated!!!

I'm doing ok thanks, busy saving for a house deposit. I tend to set myself targets every few months, it gives me something to aim for.

Been busy getting some Christmas presents sorted so that they all don't have to come out of Decembers wage. I've also found this ace supermarket comparison site 'compare supermarket prices . co . uk' that tells you what beers/food products are on offer at which supermarket which has helped keep costs down for some presents :)

Apart from that i'm heading to Berlin for 4 days in early December for a little treat. Flights were only £60 odd with Easyjet and am hostelling for £15 per night b&b so it won't be that expensive either :D

Anyway, enuff about me, glad to hear you should make your target for New Year. Make sure you make use of Topcashback if you do any Christmas shopping online. There are also loads of codes and deals floating around. Good luck.

  • Wow linz, you're doing great! I might take a leaf out of your book and try to buy some presents from this wage to spread the cost. Although for me it's not so bad as I only have 3 presents to buy - my mum, dad and sister. But I like your thinking.

Looking at your current target, it's quite a leap you need to make to hit your NYE figure...you must be well paid or have low outgoings or both...

Thanks for the pointer for comparesupernarketprices.co.uk - that sounds ace and I'll be checking that out as soon as I've written this reply.

Have a great time in Berlin.

skea56 - welcome to the thread. Thanks for reading it and hope you gain some inspiration. Also, I hope you're 10 percents make you wealthy!

Hi MW, I've been a silent reader of your thread since it begun!

Congratutations for getting this far, you are way on your target for chrimbo and I'm sure you will exceed it. :)

Btw on the GF front, don't get so disheartened. There are plenty of girls out there and it just takes time to meet the right one. Also, I find girls are a drain on the wallet so not having one for the moment isn't such a bad thing. :D It gives you time to built up your savings pot. :D
