Fist time on any forum but unjust private parking ticket got my goat. THe ticket must have blown over on shutting the door as I checked it was face up before I moved form the seat. I was in a courtesy car as mine at dealer. Arrived back to find ticket face down & "parking charge notice". I was very upset so then took note of number I found on board and called. They sais it would probably be reversed if I appealed as I had the ticket. Emails were not replied too so I Posted appeal & evidence. Usual stuff - not interested. We were on holiday & despite asking for email of decision so that I could do the necessary, I arrived back to the letter giving me 7 days to pay reduced amount! (Of course, thy got it in quick as they knew I was away!). How stupid I was.
I decided to look into it today and now think I shouldn't pay it & ignore it...?

  • Ignore it, it's a scam. If you were in a courtesy car then make sure the garage who supplied it understands, you don't want them paying up and billing you for it.

Totally agree, your only worry is to ensure the garage knows they are not responsible for private parking charges and have no business paying this and then billing you, if they get letters. Tell them it's a scam and you'll handle ignoring all the letters since any alleged contract on private land can only ever be with the driver.

I would tell them if they are desperate to reply and name you as the driver then that's OK if it worries them to get letters about this con.

I've just received a letter from Roxburghe (Uk) Limited, Debt Colectors saying that I must pay £197.00 as I did not pay Elite Managment Ltd the charge of £90. The dealer gave them my details as it was a loan car. The letter is dated the 7th September and demands payment within 14 days from this date. I received it from the dealer today 23rd September. THey already had my details as I stupidly sent them a letter when I returned from holiday to find the that my appeal was not approved (surprise surprise).
Shall I ignore? The letter says the usual bumf at the bottom re Ts & Cs of the Parking Enforcement NOtice etc
    Help!

Roxburghe Letters are followed by 3 lots of Graham White junkmail. Then they give up.

If Roxburghe telephone you pretending to be solicitors, tell them to go forth and multiply.

THanks for that! I'm going to need some virtual hand-holding to get me through this!
I suppose I better inform the dealer of my position.
Incidently the Ts & Cs are in greater detail than the Roxburghe sample letters in the post with all the companies & their scam letters.

Honestly, it's not a big deal.

Anyone who has ever moved into rented property has to wade through debt collection letters when they come home every night.

But yeah, tell the garage to ignore any junk, or pass on your details to them so you can ignore the letters. Show them this thread if you want.

You mean the letter is a bit different from our examples of the Roxburghe/GW letter-chain?

Once this scam is over it would be great if you could post scans on that 'PPC letters/threats, what to expect' thread to help other newbies. Graham White are Roxburghe, one and the same, so when you see that word 'solicitors', don't be panicked as they will not have not upped the ante, just used some different headed notepaper for their next standard letter.

Apart from that, there's nothing that Roxburghe can do beyond send letters and maybe make a phone call or two (there are lots of posts on this board about the fun replies you can give to them to string them along pointlessly, or how to legally tell them to put up or shut up, if you prefer). I would laugh at them if they phoned me up and then tell them I would report them for harassment if they ever contacted me about the matter again.

But usually they don't phone, they just send the usual threatograms in the post.

Panic not, you are in the middle of a scam with no more clout than if you were deleting a series of phishing emails without replying. Same scenario.
