Question about Pesonal Injury Claim

2

Comments

  • A personal injury claim is for just that - personal injury. Not an opportunity to make money out of a situation - please don't waste drs time if there is no need and please don't exagerate symptoms to make money. IMO the whole personal injury claim process is being abused by people with no real injury who want to make a bit of money because they think they can. By all means clain for damage to your car but not for damage to yourself if there isn't any.

Actually I find that quite offensive....

Why? Because you read it here on a forum instead of hearing it from your doc?

Have a read up on it (compensation neurosis), and see how many symptoms you got already!

I think this is a bit harsh.
There is no evidence of exagerration here or indeed a desire to claim and certainly none that it's completely made up and there is no personal injury.
This is being pushed by a legal team with the person involved not really knwoing what it's all about but taking advice from the professionals.

If we want to criticise anyone it should be the ambulance chasers here, who don't appear to informed the customer properly about their choices.

It's not necesasrily wasting a doctors (or nurses time).
I was lucky that I could see my employers company nurse when I had an accident, but they did give me valuable info even for minor injuries to prevent more lasting problems (formation of scar tissue).
Seeing the health professional early has prevented problems which could cause greater time and cost down the line if left neglected.
People should not be put off seeing someone if they have real problems as any health professsional will tell you that cost (and suffering) is reduced when people are seen as early as possible.

We don't know enough about this case to judge but I have seen not evidence of greed or exaggeration or abscence of injury.
More like someone who knows little who's being pushed along by greedy legal people.

I don't think you should attempt medical diagnosis Quentin.
I don't think the OP knows enough to be financially motivated.

I think the ambulance chasers are at fault here.
Why aren't people helping them make an informed decision?
Perhaps will the proper level of help they might decide not to claim?

Sorry if I sounded harsh but the comments about other peoples injuries influencing claim, and should I see a dr rather than a nurse? make me think someone could be out for what they can get - I accept though that I probably jumped in a bit quick here with the cynicism.

If you read the post (and maybe read up on the suggested diagnosis) you'll see I didn't attempt a medical diagnosis! The condition isn't medical, it's in the head!

Yes I did read up on it before posting.

    The definition I got was
A neurosis whose symptoms may be associated with a real or presumed disability that may bring financial compensation.
GPs do have to deal with psychological issues these days as well as physical ones. Mental disorders are medical conditions are they not?
If I got something wrong please explain as I'm one of the few posters on here that's willing to admit when I'm wrong and learn something :-)
but that's what my research came up with.

A neurosis is a psychiatric condition.

Ok then apologies for calilng it by the wrong name :-)
    I stand corrected.

I don't think you should be attempting diagnosis of psyciatric conditions on line.

    We have two scenarios here.
Either the poster is a troll and I am naive and we are all wasting our time. If they genuinely are out for what they can get they won't be easily put off by a few offensive comments so you have probably not acheived anything.
    OR
The poster is genuine and you guys have been too harsh and missed an opportunity to give valuable advice which might have resulted in them making a moral decision to withdraw the claim.
I know which one I think is worse.

What a good job you just issued one of your scoldings for the medical diagnosis, and not one of your corporal punishments!
