A humane way to deter it would be to coat your cable in chilli oil, this also works with bird feeders(mix chillies in with the food) as birds aren't affected by caspican, but mammals are.
Ha ha I can laugh now he's !!!!!!ed off for a bit but like Arnie he'll be back! I have probably amused my neighbours no end out in the garden in my PJ's getting cross.
I only wish I were able to get up on the roof but am 3 months post op from a MPFL ligament replacement on my knee so not really mobile enough.
Off round to my Mum's to pick up her trap and buy a jar of peanut butter.
I think he is coming along the fence onto our extensions flat roof and then up to roof so will put trap there and hope he wakes the kids up in the morning outside their rooms.

Tabasco sauce your cable. Or, give him nuts until he agrees not to eat the cable.
    Squirrel!

.22 air rifle is by far the most humane method.

He's out there again 7am this morning. He has taken no notice of the trap. Probably as my OH didn't want to put it on the flat roof because it will make a mess of the stones! He will be ignored tommorow.
What best to use for bait??????

We are born wet, naked, and hungry. Then things get worse.

  • Apple slices with peanut butter on are meant to be a very attractive bait for them. I can't remember what we used mind you - my parents had 2 coming into the loft to chew the TV cables a couple of years ago.

I also have squirrel problems, on a 4th floor balcony the little sod comes up and eats my strawberries! and digs up the tulips...

need to try the chilli and tabasco trick then...
