Right then I'll have to try replacing the glow plugs then and see if that solves the problem. The car is nearly six years old and has done 60,000 miles so I suppose the glow plugs are due for a change. :)

Put in a decent brand, beru, bosch, or gm's own aren't bad.
But soak in oil, and warm the engine up before you do it.

Ruby on my vauxhall it means a fault of some sort i think but it has never came on when driving.
Lilac..thanks hun. The light hasn't come on mine either...its just that my 52 Corsa has developed an intermitent "squeal" which sounds like its coming from the back wheel area. Not too loud at the moment but its worrying me particularly as I have non existing funds to have it seen to at a garageright now:o

    Eeek!

I know very little about car engines but even I know it's called a LAMBDA sensor. :(

This is sounding more risky than I like with the mention of them shearing off. :(

Maybe I should consider getting a cheapy Haynes manual off the internet.
  • EGR's is normally on the 1.9's.

Correct;).......and the 1.3CDTIs and a lot of the petrol Corsas aswell.

The process isn't hard, it's just that they are notorious for shearing off if you just try to wrench them out without a bit of care.
(A garage usually say "tough", and charge you to get the head off, so no advantage in getting it done by someone else, if fact you'll probably take more care)
And as you say, they have been there for six years.
(I did my wife's 106 this year, they all came out a dream, but they were replaced about 3 years ago allegedly)
