Smoky Corsa?

Hi,
I have a 54 CDTI Corsa that's been getting pretty smoky as of late, particularly first thing in the morning when it's started after the night it ejects a cloud of light-coloured smoke which gradually vanishes. You can also see it now and again when I'm driving and put my foot down a bit.
The car isn't using any oil or water I've been keeping an eye on the levels and there's no change.
Lately however the spanner light has been coming on intermittently and going off. The car drives completely normally.
Any ideas?
I'm thinking it's possibly unburned fuel due to a worn out heater plug?

The smoke in the morning coupled with the spanenr light will mean you have a glow plug or two that are getting towards the end of their life.0

Brilliant thanks a lot harvey.
DIY job?0 -
Other than the above suggestions, if its not been serviced in a while, change the fuel and air filters. Take it out for a run and drive it like you stole it.0

Very prone to shearing off though. Either choose a garage that knows what they are doing or soak them in penetrating oil for at least a week, then have a go.
Slightly tighten first to crack the rusted in plug free.0 -
Faulty EGR valve my money goes on... It'll sticking open so its recircing all the burnt gasses and causing the starting problems. Funny things EGRS in the symptoms they can cause.0

Right then I'll have to try replacing the glow plugs then and see if that solves the problem. The car is nearly six years old and has done 60,000 miles so I suppose the glow plugs are due for a change.
