If you use less than 2500 litres a year you do not need to pay duty.0

all depends on the engine, some work much better on it than others but its best to use a mix of oil and diesel0 -

Careful, saying something like that here is likely to offend some who think Mazola is the best thing since Y fronts.
Would i use the muck in a car worth more than a tank of fuel, not a hope.0 -

Please, anyone thinking of using Veg oil in their diesel vehicles do some research first, problems can come thick, fast and expensive if you get things wrong.

What car have you got, post back and I'll give you the low down on how and what to do. I have been running on veg since September last year with out one problem, the car loves it.
The homebrew craze has taken off after a change in the law in June 2007 left people free to make up to 2,500 litres of fuel a year - enough to power an average family diesel car for up to 40,000 miles - without paying fuel duty.0 -
As has been previously said, it all depends on the engine, for instance old landrover diesel units will run quite happily on veg oil, whether that be old chip shop waste or new from supermarket, newer Tdi units you need to be a bit more careful, and the later TD5 units forget it ......
Most of the time its the chemicals in the oil that do the injector pump seals in.
If you buy veg oil from the supermarket, be sure to keep the reciept .......˙ʇuıɹdllɐɯs ǝɥʇ pɐǝɹ sʎɐʍlɐ

Basically, if its got a Lucas injector pump, forget it. Veg oil will kill it in no time. I believe using Veg in modern common rail diesels is a no-no too.0
