Hi there - I have done a very silly thing .... my daughter 'bought' my car from me last Sept, and I wanted it serviced and MOT for her .... even though the MOT was not due until Dec! I did ask the garage to date it one month later .... thought they would have done, could have done, but they did not!! Is there anyway I can redress this?? Or is she now stuck with a Sept date for the MOT (it passed by the way .... ) Many thanks.

Re contact the MOT garage and advise them of your problem.
HOWEVER, I am not aware of anyway of changing any details against the current MOT that has been issued against the car, it's almost impossible to alter anything on the VOSA database for a MOT date when a car has passed it's test currently!0 -
Thank you so much - darnit!! I did contact the garage and they told me there was no way they could have dated it a month later cos it is done automatically??? This is the garage that has serviced my car from new! I just read an article in a magazine about this and aparantly they garage could have done - so says Martin of this site ... but garage still said no!0

the thirteen month MOT can only be got within a month of the expiry of the current test and I think the computer does it automatically if you qualify0

I would have thought it would have done it too, but I can't be 100% sure.
I suppose it all depends on that, as if the garage is at fault or not.
However, if the garage is at fault, I'm afraid I doubt very much if there is anyway to make any changes to the current MOT on the VOSA's database, if not, impossible0 -
The garage is not at fault. An MOT can run to 12 months from the expiry of the old one if it is carried out less than one month before the expiry of the old one.0

Its only a month, does it matter?Or does she want to sell it with some test on it?0

It's not quite a full months grace, my pick up had it's first MOT yesterday, it is now MOT'd till 1st Sept 11, i can submit it for renewal next year from 8th August to preserve the renewal date as 1st Sept.
Roughly 3 weeks i make that.0 -
