Hi,
When I first started selling I used to put the full address and postcode but for a long time have just been putting the house number and the postcode, for the few times items have been returned it has worked fine..
Now I have had a problem with a item I sent by recorded delivery on the 9th Aug, the buyer contacted me to say the item had not arrived, I dug out the Receipt and checked on line and it said they had tried to deliver on the 10th and the item was at the sorting office..( BUT when checking I Have written 23 NOT 32 for the house number) anyway told the buyer to collect the parcel with proof of id and explain what had happened, they tried to but the sorting office say it had actually been refused ( wrong address) and had been returned..
I phoned up today as it has not been returned yet and the lady on the phone said it would NOT be returned with just the house number and potcode
:(
Has anyone else had this trouble or do you get items returned with just the details i have put on?
The Post office that I take deliveries to have said that is ok

Thats what I had been told as well, but ringing the number on the bottom of the recorded delivery receipt the lady said it would not be.
What sort of time does it normally take to get a refused item back, it been 11 days since they tried to deliver to my customer ( who is being really understanding about my stupid mix up)0 -
I just put name and postcode. Staff at my delivery office know who I am, and I only live in a small postcode area.

Same here, I only put house name and postcode and have always received things back OK.They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

I put an able label with my full address on it, I'm sure a house number and post code should be sufficient by why risk it?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Full address, just in case, although I've never needed to have an item returned"We are the change that we seek."0

I put my name, hourse number and postcode. I am sure I remember when the postcode was first developed they were saying that is all we would need to address a letter, let alone for a return address. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

I have put the basic details on a parcel had it returned before now. I guess it depends on your local sorting office.0

Name, House name & Postcode (Plus UK if packet is going overseas). I guess I'm lucky that the postcode only relates to my house and the house next door.0

I have had a parcel returned to me with just my postcode and house number on it when a buyer failed to collect a parcel.
However, now I put my full details on it just incase as it makes life a lot easier should anything go wrong.0
