Like some of those replying to the article I think the 1 in 4 statistic is complete BS but it must be common as a post like this one crops at least once a week here.
The fact that it is an "officially recognised" scam may offer some leverage in getting the credit card transaction reversed. As there is a financial paper trail too possibly trading standards may take an interest for the benefit of others but as it will be an offshore operation they probably change accounts regularly anyway. By rights the CC company should handle that aspect themselves but pound to a penny they won't be interested.0
