I do all my baking with a tablespoon or sight, never use scales and Im a brilliant baker if i say so myself.
Mind, that wouldnt do if i was making say a welsh dresser :rotfl:make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Keep your chin up MrGreen. You sound like a guy who will get through the low periods xx0

OP - are you having a 'moment'. It's pretty usual for people around your age to look at their life and sometimes think 'oh !!!!!! !'
It might help to talk to your doctor about your medical condition (whatever it is) to ensure you are on the best treatment regime and if there is anything else that can be done, or that you should be doing to manage it to the best of your ability.
Depending on what the condition is, you may get extra points for social housing and some districts have a starting age of 50 for older people's accommodation(others may be 55).
Entitled to is a good place to start for the financial side of things......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

McKneff... any chance of cookery classes please? Ive just tried to make a quiche. You really don't want to see the result0 -
Is there life after 50? Yes definitely!
A couple of suggestions to build on your skills.
I hear there is a big demand for craftsmen who can renovate old and listed buildings. Maybe you could find a conversion course to build on your skills. This area would likely mean working on projects with a team of like minded people.
Alternatively could you specialise in something like furniture restoration and that might fit in with times when your health isn't so great.
Or how about both?
It is natural to feel down as life changes and I'm not a great fan of medication but you should see your Doctor to rule out any possible medical cause for how you are feeling.0 -
OK, I am just about through what you sound as if you are dipping into. I got severe depression at 54 doing things I hated, seeing no way of ensuring monetary security in retirement [I am mortgaged into my seventies] thinking about all the things I meant to achieve, blaming my chronic childhood asthma for being a 'late starter' and losing the race - and convincing myself the asthma was on its way back to blight my later years. I very nearly didnt get any older. Get help. Get treatment, make plans and set about eating your elephant one spoonful at a timeLife is like a box of chocolates - drop it and the soft centres splash everywhere0

Got plenty of ideas from reading replies, I am not depressed just looking ahead.
We all have bad days, just need to refocus......

I do some volunteer work at local Age Concern, just helping out with genealogy so nothing really arduos, but you will be suprised at just how much chatting away to others and just "putting world right" can help make a day
Most of the folk who come along [mainly male, like me] use it more as a social club meeting than it's intended purpose of genealogy, but we all go along with whatever discussion arises on the day, be it Mosquito bomber [did you know it carried a heavier bomb load than a Flying Fortress?, No neither did I] or local brickmakers in last centuryEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Well it will be a move in the right direction........0
