It's only by making mistakes that you learn things.
But don't blame anyone else; and certainly not the shopper who followed you....for all you know the assistant put it aside and it went back on the shelves.
Is this what we have become, a society who blames everyone else for their own mistakes? Take responsibility for your own actions.0 -
I could kick myself as well, I lost £20 last time I went shopping.
I had £20 in my purse, drew another £20 from the ATM and went shopping. At the checkout - only £20 in my purse. Went through my whole bag, all my pockets, turned my purse inside out. Nothing. I must have walked off from the ATM and left the money there.
It was quite embarrassing as I then had to put half my shopping back. It would have been better if the young checkout girl wasn't pulling 'god you're such a moron' faces at me the whole time and rolling her eyes. I asked if it was worth asking customer services if someone had handed it it and she just snorted and said 'fat chance'. I had to ask her twice before she would ask them (no it wasn't handed in, I know, not likely, but worth asking).
Anyway it was my own stupid fault but I could have strangled that bloomin' girl for being so rude.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -
I had quite a good days shopping yesterday, I found 20 quid and a bottle of Ariel Excel
I left a tenner in a self checkout till once, I got to the car and realised that i'd left it and went back in on the off chance. The girl who was monitoring the self checkout tills saw me going back in and the person after me had found it and handed it to her. After a rubbish few days it restored my faith in human nature that there were still some honest people out there
The other day I got some bits from M&S in town and got some cashback using the self checkout and it came up to call an assistant who came over and made me sign for the cashback before it gave it to me which I though was a good idea as i'm sure there is a lot of people out there who have got cashback and left it by mistake. If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00 -

I found £30 which had been left in the cash machine at ASDA but didn't get chance to shout the gentleman who'd left it as he was already driving off so I took it in to the customer service, much to the amusement of the lady behind the counter.
The lady didn't take any details such as what the guy looked like or which cash machine was used (there were three at this store). Just said thanks and put it under the counter.
It came up in conversation with a friend who used to work security at the same store, he said apparently they are supposed to take all the details you have about the person who left it and then your own details; if it's not claimed within a certain time (think it was two weeks) you should be contacted and given the money or it can be donated to charity. I don't know how true this is, I hope the man got his money back"Organic!! I grew up on Angel Delight..." - Dylan Moran0 -

Based on what you said about the CS lady, I strongly doubt that, don't you?0 -

I found a tenner in a self service checkout a few weeks ago and handed it in. I'd like to think the person who left it went back for it, and that it didn't just go into Asda's pocket. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

No he probably didn't, but I can always live in hope"Organic!! I grew up on Angel Delight..." - Dylan Moran0 -
I think the OP is very good for owning up to their mistake, and being realistic about it. I think it's very good manners.
If this forum is anything to go by many people would blame everyone but themselves and their impatient husband.0 -
Thank You Biscit.
Yes it was my own fault I was the one who left it there and even looked back to check but didn't see it because it was in the bag still on the holder.
Hopefully I will not make the same mistake again.I will cover every inch in future!!!!
I didn't have a good weekend all in all shopping wise. Got charged in the Co-op £3.98 for something that cost 39p but at least I can get that back.0 -
I can't remember when this last happened to me, all I will say is that I know it has- there were items put in the trolley that made it onto the receipt but not in the bags when I got home!0
