No, not been mentioned as I don't think they have stocked them until today. Looks like the Warning boxes, though. Obviously no probs if buying as a pressie, though...I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -
Mmm.. Warning boxes.
I've already got one with 'Secret' on the box which I've opened to test then re-boxed and put away for Christmas.
Just an idea, what's to stop my buying one in a 'warning' box and then swapping the Elmo's across.0 -
I was informed by someone from Woolworths that there on back order so check your account ....they dont know if or when they could possible get them in and they have not charged my card so i just cancelled my order....they said 24th OCT is only a guide.
I was told they would be the ones with TOP SECRET boxes though.0 -

I read somewhere that Mattel have programmed Elmo to react to this dodgy marketing exercise by screaming 'SCAMMER' at the top of his annoying vocal range until you return him to his correct packaging. No idea if that's true, of course....:rolleyes:I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -
What would be the point of swapping them? Is it not just the boxes that are different?:smileyheaRachel xx0

First time I've seen any actual sales figures mentioned.
http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061004/BUSINESS10/610040406/-1/BUSINESS
Mattel produced only 700,000 of the toys, generating speculation that it may have deliberately over-hyped the item and limited the quantity in an effort to create a hot toy. Mattel and Fisher-Price denied such accusations.
Jim Silver, editor and publisher of Toy Wishes magazine, said he accepted Mattel denials. No toy has been this hot this early, he said.
Sales have exceeded expectations by five times and although Mattel projected it could sell 700,000 Elmos, it is on track to sell 3 million, he said.
"In the first 24 hours they sold 250,000. Nobody plans on that. If you sell 400,000 units for a season, it is considered a hit, and 500,000 is a huge hit," Mr. Silver said.
No way they can possibly manufacture another 2.3 million of these before this Xmas!I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -
