I find this whole thread pretty funny. In the US, Elmo has been massive for years. Here in the UK, we just don't care. How many kids in this country know who Elmo is or actually watch Seseme Street? Not many. This thread is only hyping a toy which will NOT be in great demand this Christmas. I imagine there are people here planning on getting one or two just to sell on ebay thinking they will make a bit of cash. I just cannot see that.
Then there will be someone who will create hype by putting a stupidly high buy-it-now price on eBay to grab the online headlines!
Of course, the paranoid out there think I am trying to put people off and secretly buying 1000's of them and stashing them until December!0 -

They were available at woolworths but they seem to have run out of them and just saw one available at amazon. There is another link supplied earlier on in the thread stating they are available at entertainer - have a look. In store I dont know. :rolleyes:0 -
Best to phone your store and ask to have it put away if they have any, this is what I did yesterday. When I picked mine up there were no more left on the shelf. Apparently they came in the day before and were putting them out as I phoned.0

Whilst stressing that I haven't actualy gone for this, I do think there is very little potential downside to this one! It's clear that this is going to be scarce come Christmas, both here and in the US (I'm suspecting the UK shops will have a mighty hard time getting any more stock from the US distributors judging by the scramble for this toy over the pond). Totally agree about Elmo not being as high profile here as he is in the US, but I'm not aware the cabbage patch dolls had any sort of popularity here before everyone went doolally for them several Xmases ago!
This IS about the hype, although I do also think the product is extremely appealing (until I saw the video I didn't want one!) and we all know it only takes a couple of national news programmes in the UK to feature this toy and maybe only SUGGEST it's going to be this year's must have Xmas gift and will be in short supply to see the floodgates open.
PLus, we also have ordinary people sitting at their PCS able to sell globally these days, so I reckon there will be money to be made on this toy selling to the US on ebay, even accounting for the higher buy price and higher P&P costs. Only time will tell. In fact, I've almost convinced myself to go for it now! :eek:I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -
I dunno, this one looks a bit risky to me. I do usually grab a few of a potential must have christmas toy. Last year my christmas was paid for by selling pink Nintendo DS with nintendogs. This year I am edging towards pink PSPs, but I will watch these elmos with interest... but I don't think I will go for any myself... or should I? LOL:A
