I just found some small toy shop in Darlington on the internet that had six in stock of the "top secret boxed" elmos - ordered two online, which he is honoring but when i called the shop he would nt sell me anymore. Gutted he said he was a man of principal and he had people coming in for them.

Oh well at least i got another two :)

The danger with nearly all of the stock being bought to resell is that public awareness of the items will be low. Come Christmas many people will not want them because, not having seen hem in the shops, they don't know they exist.
What's needed is a big media story (like for Buzz Lightyear or Furbies) but I'm not sure Elmo is a big enough character here to warrant that.
    Can I help?

I agree with most of that. However, I think the fact that this toy sells out as quickly as it comes in WILL eventually get it on the news channels - but not yet, it's far too early for them to be showing little johnny all upset because he wants one for Xmas and they are nowhere to be seen. Early to mid December is the time for these news reports to appear and I think they WILL appear. Plus, very few parents are actually shopping for Xmas yet!
