Ordered via woolworths supposed to be delivered today but still no sign of it and my card was debited 21 st:mad:

I was also supposed to get something delivered today but got no confirmation, order status was 'processing'. Called the customer services and a relly nice lady apologised and said that the order had not been updated and that the item had been delivered instore. Called the local store and they confirmed that the parcel was waiting there. Going to pick up tomorrow. Must say that the entire query went very smoothly and the staff were very polite. :T

He also mae the valid point that nobody knows what will be a Christmas hit until it's too late, ELMO TMX is once again proof positive of this phenomenon.

Mattel / Fisher Price announced this at a trade show in February, and have kept it shrouded in mystery since then (apparantly only 50 people in FP knew what he did when it was all put together)

FP knew how well Elmo sold before (albiet 10 years ago), and by announcing it and keeping it secret they built up the hype. It even got launched on natinoal daytime TV in the US, if that wasn't an attempt to hype it up I don't know what is. They've had the best part of a year to build up stock, although if they had more stock I suspect details would have leaked out before the release date, but either they didn't because they coudn't or they didn't because the didn't plan ahead.

Sure it might have failed to take off, but I find it hard to believe they did not expect it to be a hit, and were taken completely by suprise by the demand.

Got mine today in Woolies East Kilbride (internet order) very funny as staff were all trying to open it and laughing when it told them no peaking. One women said she was going to order tonight coz she couldn't resist - I didn't have the heart to tell her I thought they were out of stock.
    Chuffed they arrived though
