May be a dumb question, but what do people mean by it speaking when opening the box lid?

A bit like when you open one of those speaking birthday cards, Elmo says a couple of lines of gobblydegook (unless you have a non-faulty one!). Actually it's not Elmo at all, but it's meant to be. It's actually the voice of a tiny man that Mattel place in the box at the packing stage.

A question for everyone selling elmos,what happens if you sell them and the buyer tells you it doesn't work?
Surely that must be a possiblity and would eat or delete any profit.
That would worry me.

There is a large flap at the front of the box which you lift to hear the sounds, it looks like you are peeking in to the box ( it real terms you are not opening the box at all ):j
