Im fed up with the people on this forum who seem to think that they have some right to tell others how many of a certain deal they are allowed to buy and what they can do with the deal once they have bought it.

I have not bought this deal as i dont want to but if i did want to go into my local Woolworths and buy 10 of the Elmo's then i will. Then if i decide to go home and list 9 on Ebay for increased prices then i will do that too. If a parent wants to come along and buy the Elmo then that is great. If the parent is too stupid to check local toy retailers before buying from Ebay then tough.

This is called good business. Buying at a cheap price and selling on for a profit does not make you a vulture, it makes you sensible. People seem to think that they have some god given right to these deals and anyone who may put them on Ebay should be hung drawn and quartered. The deals posted are for everyone, not just certain individuals.

They have as much right to post their opinion just as you have here..

I dont think anyone grudges people wanting to make an extra bob or two but to go into a shop and take 10 is taking the !!!!!!...As for checking local retailers, well if all the MSE'ers are going around buying up all the stock they will find it would be pretty hard to get a hold of one ..
Last year we had a terrible time trying to find some barbie horses head thing for my kids, every shop had sold out yet there was loads on ebay at massively inflated prices. In the end my wife and i had resinged ourselves that the kids would be without them unless we paid some parasite 2-3 times what they were in the shop but luck would have it because we put our name on the list at a couple of shops we got a phone call they had got some in stock and kept a couple by for us,argos also phoned us to say the same..now if i was the kind of person who stole sweeties from kids i would take the exra two and ebay them but i didn't happy to know that some other parent would feel as good as we did knowing we got them in time for christmas..

ohh i aslo look forward to the day a way is found to tax the income from people who earn on ebay,to actively go out and practise 'good business' then they should aslo abide by the law of the land and pay taxes like the rest of us..

If you dont like this then fine it is your right right to have and even post your opinion just as it is mine and everyone elses to do the same.

Thank you for your opinion, I pay tax on my ebay profit. As for the Barbie horse heads they were in Boots in the 3 for 2 gifts you should try being more organised - and I never sold any on ebay I bought one for my daughter. Whatever price you pay on ebay high or low you can be sure that the person selling it paid less for it than you are, that's how it works.
  • i have to say i only think its taking the pee when its a price glich i.e coming up free and people order 200 etc and also when its a small company that may struggle to take the losses with such a glitch, but these are not cheap and if people want to take the risk by buying 10 and investing £350 then good luck to them....just my opinion of coure:D

Just noticed a uk seller remove 5 of her listings and not relist, wondering whether people have listed ones they haven't received yet and been let down on delivery. Has anyone had their orders cancelled?
  • Just to give my thoughts on something.

About the guilt factor, and as many of you know I am NOT one of the ones buying this and selling it.

I find that it is funny, on a forum about money saving, that rather than teach kids the difference between good value and bad value, some parents would spend over the odds to get their kids exactly what they want.

In my opinion (thats all it is) this is not a good practise. It teaches children they can have whatever they want and that no matter how hard it is to obtain everything is available at a price.

For me, with my children, I think it is better to teach them that it is better to understand that they can not have exactly what they want. Infact, if one of my children asked for a TMX Elmo for Xmas I would tell them straight "too much money". If I had made a mistake of saying to them that they could have one, and later I found out that it meant forking out a fortune, I would tell them ASAP that I am sorry but it can no longer be bought without spending a fortune as people have bought them and put them up to re sell at double the price.

So, in a way I am glad that these people ramp the prices like this. It gives me the chance to give my children the most important present of all. The present of knowing the advantage of financial wisdom over reckless spending.

PS, look out for last years must buys :) they will save you a fortune.

The only problem with your theory (and I do agree with it, btw) is the huge wait you will have before you get thanked for it from your offspring. lol.
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!
  • I ordered 10 yesterday from Woolies and have since had an email saying that my order is on hold due to a security check!! They wanted my name and address and name of the issuing bank of my credit card...they haven'y got back to me yet...I was wondering if anyine else had had this??
  • Personally I'd leave well alone bearing in mind supply and demand, the only reason prices are high now is because it was only officially released recently, but as soon as people's orders are fulfilled from Woolworths/Amazon etc, there will be an oversupply of them on eBay.co.uk, I have a feelig too many people will be trying the same thing, remember this site gets a lot of traffic.
could be good for the buyer tho cheaper than face value
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.:D

Just to let you know, if anyone is after one of these, then my local woolies-victoria centre-nottingham, had at least 4 on the shelf.
I couldn't decide whether to buy one or not, so left it, as i already have one on order with them using the 10% off code.
I was dying to see one in action, but they are all sealed in the boxes, and when you lift the lid it says "ah, ah, ah, no peeking"
