Stock now down to 533 at Amazon. Not a massive rush but still shows some demand.
    Can I help?

  • This is a turkey that will burn a lot of people.

Its a toy that not many in the UK will want - Most kids are into Dr Who rather than the muppets.

It is available pretty much everywhere and is selling slowly.

But by a process of manufacturer advice, internet whispers, and what people hope to be self fulfilling prophecy, a non existent demand is being ramped up by existing owners.

I wouldn't like to be holding a stock of them when the ebay "price" goes south

Yes, it's a gamble and I think everybody who is 'gambling' knows the score, but thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

As stock goes down in the US the price goes up because they ARE in demand over there, they will in my opinion also be in demand over here closer to xmas.
I have already covered the cost of the ones I have kept, until nearer xmas, from the profit on the sale of Elmos last month - all to UK buyers.

If you are still unsure of the demand in the US check out the Fisher Price online shop US site. Or just google tmx Elmo. Mostly this Elmo thread is just a bit of fun but there always seems to be doom and gloomers trying to rain on the parade. If you don't want any fine - we're old enough to make our own minds up.

Personally I think that this time next year Rodney we'll be millionaires.

I agree and said something in the early days of this thread. I am coming around to thinking this is the toy parents wants their children to have, rather than the toy a child actually wants themself and demand will be much less than people hope for.

Fisher Price factories have a lot of days of to produce these muppets.

I'd would go along with the thinking the Dr Who Cyberman helmet will be a very hot seller this Christmas and would not be surprised if this sold out and became rare like the Barbie Horse head from last year.

While I have been vocal in objecting to peoples greed in this thread, I would take no satisfaction in people getting burned this Christmas when thousands (and I fully believe it will be thousands, there are a lot of people outside this website stocking these up) of Elmos are released on eBay.
  • Just a point (and I haven't read enough of this thread to see if it's been mentioned before) but Elmo is for 18M+ i.e. toddlers. Toddlers won't be the same market as Cybermen heads or many of the other 'hot' toys. As others have said, with Elmo it is parents creating the demand not the kids - the target market can barely say "Mumma"
