Wouldn't a better solution be action being taken against the same 'offenders'. Even a warning from the abuse team in the post would help.0

Could they not just lock the topic once it is 'no longer productive' ala Digital Spy.
I have asked about this before, indeed doing it for any old threads, and the answer was no. I suppose it is a judgment call as to when something becomes no longer productive, and who would make the judgment?Gone ... or have I?0 -

Like I said - the abuse team.
If a thread is just going around in circles it should be fairly obvious that the thread is no longer worth while surely?0 -

I completely agree with you that a thread going round in circles is no longer worthwhile, but does it equate to abuse? If you are going down that route there is the question of resources, the Abuse Team have enough to do deal with looking at posts/ threads that actually break forum rules. As the threads in question are not doing this, is it fair to put more work on them?Gone ... or have I?0 -

Well it isn't 'abuse'. How about we call it 'forum support' instead.
Can't the board guides lock topics anyway - they do elsewhere on the site don't they?0 -

They can lock threads pending review by Abuse, but it still begs the question as to who should make the decision? One persons boring/ going round in circles is another persons healthy debate!Gone ... or have I?0 -

Why not allow the children to continue playing, but simply (although it mightn't be so simple) hold the thread at the date of its last productive post instead of allowing it to constantly bump to the top.0 -

Rather difficult and time consuming for MSE to decide what was the last productive post...[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0
