Here in South Africa this is quite a common food. Its made and eaten a bit differently from what you describe that your pizza place does. It is just bread dough and I have to admit that I just buy it ready made at the bakery dept at supermarket (its so cheap its not worth making it yourself -
dont slate me lol) I just leave it in the plastic bag it comes in and it rises to double or more of its size. Then make small balls with raw dough and deep fry in hot oil. There you have 'vetkoek' - english translation 'fat cake'. I make a pot of curried mince, cut the vetkoek open and fill with curry mince, cheese, jam - whatever you like really. They cook really fast, as soon as they rise in the oil turn them over, if they are overdone they go a bit dry inside. This is a friday night cheapie meal in our house :j

Have Panasonic SD255, thought about rolling out a ciabatta dough mix, anyone made dough balls? What dough mix did you use and how long did you bake them for?
Thanks0 -
I make them from the pizza dough recipe made in the Panny. I brush them with a bit of olive oil and cook for about 10 minutes at 220. The kids love them.0
