With Orange and want to change my tariff (for a more expensive one i`ll add), went into the orange shop and they said it`d cost me £175 !???

Whats that all about ?

The guy said that when you upgrade thats what your stuck with ?? I never remember it being like that ??

I pay £25 for 500 off peak minutes and 250 texts and want to change it to a £30/£40 tariff with daytime minutes.

    Think the wee person in orange shop totally at it.
    Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?

    Is the one you are on at the mo a 12 month contract. Are you trying to get on to 18 month contract tariff?
  • if you just want to change tariff - give orange a call they poss sort u out when u want to change tariff for a higher one they shouldnt charge you for that unless your trying to do something else..

    i know its not the same but 4 months ago my oh was 6 months into her 12 month contract and orange direct let her downgrade from a £35 pm to £19 pm with no charge at all so really do think someone in the shop has got the wrong end of the stick..

    How far into your contract are you? I.e. how long have you had your phone for with orange?

  • If you reduce your tariff within a specified time, you would be charged the difference, but going up???

    this is article 4 from Orange's T's & C's;

    You will not be able to switch to a lower Service Plan for the first 6 months of a 12 month contract or for the first 9 months of an 18 month contract. After the first 6 or 9 months, as appropriate, you may switch to the next lowest value Service Plan a maximum of one time per month for the remainder of the contract term. For example, if you are on Racoon £35 but wish to be on Dolphin £25 you may (at month 6 or 9 depending on your contract length) switch to Racoon or Canary £30 and then the following month switch to Dolphin £25. You are able to switch to an equivalent or higher Service Plan at any time.
