scottish scrap yards.

ive recently bought a honda civic,it needs a bit of work done on it to tidy it up,ive had a few quotes for parts from sellers on ebay, they all seem a little pricey, considering its mostly trim items i need.
im quite happy to go to a scrap yard myself and take the parts off,but as most will be aware the good old days of digging around a muddy scrap yard have almost disappeared.there used to be 10 scrappys all within a few miles of my home about 5 or 6 years ago,but all of them seem to have disappeared.

so im looking for some scrap yards around glasgow, lanarkshire,or central belt of scotland i can go to and remove parts myself to save a few quid on someone else doing it. and hopefully pick up a few extra parts i haven't thought of yet.

I know Edinburgh has some good scrap yards, couldn't tell you where though.

Campbells Auto Salvage in Armadale and Autocraft in Coatbridge (Northbridge Road)
Cant see campbells having stopped you removing the parts yourself and the BIL used Autocraft for parts recently and it was self removal.

Just to add some more, if you come off the M8 at Newhouse and head back towards Bellshill/Mossend past the Newhouse Hotel, theres a couple down there.

Edinburgh way although I think it's off the shelf is Sports Car Breakers.

I think in Fife (Inverkeithing perhaps?) theres a company that "sells" you 7 or 8 hours to remove anything you can take off a car as well.

If you see a Corsa B with a towbar on it on your travels, give me a shout.

Pick up Scottish Autotrader (paper version) and similar comics - they used to all advertise in there....

will do. i plan an early rise tomorrow so i'll probably head to coatbridge first. i used to go to fallons in coatbridge, that place was a goldmine with massive stock, but seems to have disappeared.
i think theres still one or two at mossend near the railway works,i used these a few years ago but they didn't have a huge selection of cars.

i'll keep an eye out for a corsa b with towbar for you.

There are good breakers yards at Ingliston and Burntisland but that may be a bit far from Glasgow?

I have used http://www.breakeryard.com/area/car-parts-Edinburgh.aspx but did not find their prices to be competitive.

I recently installed central locking on the Fabia and ended up breaking the lower B pillar trims (they seem impossible to remove without breaking them or maybe I'm doing it wrong). Anyway I asked a place online that specialises in dismantling Skodas called Skospares who asked £11.75 excl delivery, but when I went to the Skoda dealers the part new was £8.75 inclusive. Not amazing I know but shows it can sometimes be worth checking prices at a dealers.
