PS are SUPPOSED to be respected members of the community. Hence 7 day wait. Ebay considers its enough time for the PS to sort the problem. Also protects the PS from neg happy prats.....

Is the PS being unreasonable or is he just not giving you what you want??(there is a difference)

They are just being unreasonable. Advertising the item as one thing, when it clearly isnt. I asked for their help/sollution and they basically said that they were sorry about the quality of the item. The end.

If I saw the item in a shop I wouldnt have bought it.

Did they not offer a refund on return......or anything?

I guess you can go down the route of SNAD.....but to answer your original question - the rule was brought in to protect PS (who were meant to be the 'cream') from neg happy buyers. In other words the buyers that neg with no contact. If they can not neg then they may contact the seller to resolve.

You know what I am going to say. OP do not post the item number as it may well identify your own account, and that is not a good idea on here.

I had no intention of doing so anyway :)

Also, they have offered a refund less the original postage upon return of the item. But its less than £10 item and will cost me just over £4.00 to post back and its not really worth the hassle of wrapping it, going to the PO, arsing about in a queue full of old bags, to the get to the counter to be greeted by another old, but unhelpful bag.

Like I say, if their description was honest, or better, then I wouldnt have bought the item in the first place.

It would have been less insulting to send me a half eaten apple thru the post lol.

Now us with TRS, we're the respected ones. :p
I don't think we're any more respected, and it doesn't seem to be doing us any good in best match either. We're consistently outselling our competitors (item for item, not just our total daily sales over everything we've got listed), and yet we're lower on best match.

To be honest, the whole system's a bit pointless, ebay may as well get rid of the whole flashy logos bollocks and just say "if you sell x amount of stuff and get less than so many low DSRs, you get a discount".

Does TRS bring in extra sales? Not as far as I know, and we've been one since it was introduced (except for one month when we missed by 0.01% on one rating). Does it give you extra visibility. Apparently not.

In other words the buyers that neg with no contact. If they can not neg then they may contact the seller to resolve.
Or, they'll just wait another couple of days before leaving feedback, and not contact.

Quite why ebay removed the page with the "I've attempted to resolve the matter with the seller" check box before negative (or neutral, for that matter) feedback could be left, I don't know.

This all started years ago you used to have to wait 7 days before you could open a non payment dispute so to stop buyers leaving negative feedback for power sellers before paying ebay gave power sellers 7 days protection against negative feedback.
And if anyone remembers back then only power sellers could phone ebay so I think it was just to stop phone calls not about protecting powersellers.

Doubt it. Even if that was true, you (as the Powerseller) could open the NPB dispute on day 7 after the sale, at which point you'd get negged, then have to wait another 7 days for the NPB dispute to close in your favour (or not, if the buyer actually decided to pay after negging you, leaving you to either refund, or risk sending the item).
