Never been to Lanzarote before... can anyone recommend it?

OK... So having suggested Lanzarote to the guy who said 'yeah, I'll go anywhere' apparently Lanzarote is not an option and he'd like to go to cyprus! If only he would tell me he has a preference in the beginning instead of saying 'I don't mind'!

So any ideas for cyprus... last week in May (preferably inclusive of the bank holiday)... hopefully beachside location in a lively(ish) area...

Saturday 25th August (afternoon - I think there is a Thomas Cook flight at 2pm)

until Saturday 8th September (night flight on return?)

I would be willing to pay extra to get a seat for the baby if this is possible? Can I have quotes on both - you don't seem to be able to get a price for this online as when you input the baby's DOB it rejects the booking as they are not a child, but an infant.
