Did they fall hard on the laptop?

hmm currupted hard drive because they sat on it.
did they actualy just sit on it or was it a fall?
is there any further damage to the laptop?

I can't believe the hard drive is that bad corrupted. At a guess you could connect it to another computer and drag your data off it if its still functioning to a point.
I will say its worth getting an external hard drive, I friend of mine recently had a similar problem. I managed to recover everything but safe to say he realised how easily things can be lost and how cheap a backup can be.
Where abouts are you, by all means if you live not to far from me (greater manchester) I will sort it for nothing and there is many more like me on here.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

it really doesn't make sense that sitting on a laptop would corrupt the HDD, I'd take it elsewhere and ask for a 2nd opininUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0
