Iphone 4 16gb or 32gb

I have just upgraded to a free Iphone 4 16gb but am now wondering if I shouldve paid for a 32gb I think it would cost £49 for the handset. I still have 7 days to return the phone which is due to arrive tomorrow although the warehouse has processed it so it can't be changed before it arrives.

My question is fellow money savers is it worth changing to the 32gb? I'm not very technical so am not sure how much I could get on the 16gb. I've never had an iphone so don't know how much space apps, videos etc normally take up.

Your advice is most appreciated. :)

I have an iTouch, it held over 800 songs and the 11 episodes of FlashForward.. it was 8GB. 32GB just isnt needed.

I have the 32GB 3GS and it is almost full of audio books, music, apps (tomtom alone is 1.4GB) I wanted to ditch the iPod and just use the phone for everything. I am actually a little disapointed that they didnt up the GB to 64 this time as they have done with the touch.

This said if is wasnt such a pain to a) watch flash and b) transfer video and film i could get away with less GB
If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.

spend £50 more now and you have peace of mind. in 6 months of iPhone usage, I have filled it with 10 gb of songs/videos/apps etc. I am happy that i went with 32GB as I have plenty of room left now :)

    I've a 16gb one.

I've enough music for a walk to the pub or to fill a day at work if I need to get my head down, put ear plugs in and concentrate and hence exclude others.

I've a few apps I use, and a few games, some podcasts and I've about 2/3 of the memory space free.

I know I could put video's (ie films or TV) on but I've a media player and TV for that and no long communte to be bored on which would need them.. Even if I did once watched they'd probably get deleted.

Long and short is what will you use it for? If you have a communte to do go for the larget one for more varierty, for me 16GB is more than enough.
  • never filled my 8gb itouch or my 16gb 3gs.

The only reason I got a 32gb is my 3gs got damaged insurance apid out and the only iphone 4 i could get asap was 32gb as 16gb sold out.

There is £100 difference in the sim-free handset prices, so if you will only pay £49 more then this seems a good deal UNLESS there is a "catch" like having to pay a higher monthly amount.
  • Thanks for all your advice. :-)

I would like to download films to the iphone but as gjchester I'd probably delete them anyway or transfer to my laptop.
Although it would give me peace of mind to get the 32gb.

Trouble is since I first posted. I've found on it maybe more complicated than that...
I can still return the phone to the returns department and that will also cancel the price plan (which I was originally told would stay regardless of whether I returned the phone). Only once its returned am I able to be put through to the upgrades team to see if they will offer me a good / same deal as before. I am worried that I might end up not being able to get the deal as previously when trying to upgrade to the iphone I was told I would only be able to upgrade to an iphone if I gave up my 50% discount - a discount I have had since joining the network. Three members of the team had told me I would no longer have this discount until I came across someone who offered it to me. If I hadn't been so surprised I would’ve had the sense to go for the 32gb. Now I'm worried if I return the phone when I try to upgrade again I won't keep the 50% dicount which is a wonderful deal, so it may not be worth the risk after all...
