Orange mobile contract VAT charges
Hi there,
I took out a contract with orange in April 2009, only £15 a month, 100 minutes and unlimited texts. When I agreed to the conract I thought it was 18 months however online it says 24 months, I've only recently been able to access my online orange account because the service didnt work for me for about a year!! On my bill I get the initial £15 charge, my orange care charge of £6 (which ive been trying to get rid of) any charges I go over by and then a 17.5% VAT charge added on top of it, I thought the vat charge was the norm. However just the other day i was talking to a friend who has the same phone and same contract which he took out around the same time, except his vat is included in the £15 charge, so I was wondering how come mine isn't included and why do I get charged VAT on the orange care (which he also has) and any other charges also meaning my average bill comes to about £33-35, which is too far over the £15! I've tried to call orange about this various times but I never seem to be able to get through to them, I've tried 3 times today already!
So...does anyone know why my VAT isn't included in my contract price and also how the flippin hell I get through to orange?

VAT is always quoted in personal phone contract tariffs. It is only on business tariffs that the VAT is excluded. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

I have a personal phone contract, so you're saying it should be included in mine and I shouldn't be paying it on top?Exhortation wrote: »VAT is always quoted in personal phone contract tariffs. It is only on business tariffs that the VAT is excluded.
EDIT: Just managed to get through to orange, finally cancelled the orange care. Seems the added on vat is the norm...maybe I just use more data or something than my friend and get more charges?0
