Replacement Paper License
Hi all,
Been to finalise the order of our new car today and they're asking for the paper part of my driving license which I've lost...
The ford dealership we got our current car from never asked for it, and accepted just the photocard.
DVLA/DirectGov quotes that it can take 2-3 weeks to receive a replacement, and we're supposed to be picking it up on the 1st September.
Is there any way round this? Or do I just have to pray that it comes in time?
cheers

Have you actually asked them what they need it for?0
-
Seconded. They don't actually need it to complete a sale. Tell them that you can show them the card part. Mention that you'll back out of the deal and go to the Ford dealer. That'll usually grease the wheels.0

Is it for finance ?0

Cheers for the replies.
Her words were 'If I get audited they will kill me'
This was actually a Ford dealer, albeit a different one to where we got the current car from.
Surely if they had any suspicions they could ring DVLA and find out? Or does that come under data protection nonsense? lolThis thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.0 -
If it helps I had to do the same thing, and my replacement license took about 4 days to get to me.
I ordered over the phone if that helps at all - whether that makes it quicker I don't know.
And this is very recent..my new license came 2 days ago :P0 -

If it's ID for finance then yes, they need both bits, but they could just as easily ask for something else - Passport perhaps???0

If you order it over the phone - number on directgov it only takes a few days. Husband did this last March, when he ordered it they actually told him what day to expect it to arrive.0

It is to confirm your licence is valid, and also to check how many point are actually on your licence. If you renew your licence now, it only lasts for 10 years, and costs you £20 admin charges to replace it every 10 years. You have also to update your photo as well when you re-new it.0
