Yeah good kitten foods are over priced. But I still pay the extra to make sure the cat gets the best start in life. Cheap food is cheap for a reason I guess.

I have to disagree with that.

Expensive food isn't always best. Take Iams for example. It's tosh. And works out more to feed per day than really good foods like fish4cats.

Same with their wet food. Iams is more expensive than naturesmenu, hilife, feline fayre and it's a total crap in comparison.

With brands like Iams, whickas, felix etc you pay for the name.

Bozita is probably the most cost effective cat food around, it's under £1 for a HUGE carton. Yet it's 93% meat.

So I understand why you're trying to say, but commercial pet foods very rarely base their price on their quality.

Nice one Rev for posting those links to Pet forum....lots of useful unbiased info there.
Personally I would forget any notion of special food for a kitten and feed Orijen as a dry food, Bozita or Animonda carny as a wet food.

    Agree totally,

Once you get to excellent foods like Orijen, Bozita etc. Having the word kitten on the pack becomes irrelevant. Good food is good food.

When you pic a good food, there's usual very little difference ingredients wise between adult and kitten foods.

Orijen is an excellent quality dry food for cats. It is recommended that cats do not eat a dry-only diet, however. Good brands of wet food include Nature's Menu and Naturediet. Alternatively, feed your kitties some meat with their dry food. Mince, chicken, fish? :)

Really pleased with Royal Canin kitten food - they do a kitten 34 for little ones and a kitten 36 that you can feed up to 12 months. Small pieces and our 3 little ones love it. I give them variety though and also feed Iceland white fish fillets (5 mins in microwave and allow to cool). They also get the occasional foil pouch of meat in jelly (for kittens but these often don't have a lot of meat in them).

They also have lambs liver cooked and cut into small pieces and chicken. They have amazing glossy coats and are in excellent health.

Cooking the fish, liver and chicken takes a bit of effort but is no more expensive than feeding some of the rubbish ready made stuff in tins which has no nutritional value.

I had mine on RC recently when caught between bags of food but the ingredients are terrible, not sure why it's considered premium when it has what it does in it, but she loves it. Anyone know?

Second this. They don't even declare the meat content. And it has A LOT of wheat/corn/rice in it.

For the price of Rc you can get a million times better.

Can't go wrong with Iams, kitten loves it but darned expensive!

I don't rate it much for the money for the quality either.
