Selling unopened iPhone4. What's best way of selling it? eBay?

Hi all

I bought my partner a brand new 32g unlocked iPhone 4 from Apple Store in Manchester. However, he says it's too complicated to use, but because it is still sealed in it's box and unused I don't think Apple will give me a refund. What's my best option to sell it?

I can't see why Apple would refuse a refund because it's unopened, surely that's a good thing? I would certainly try them in the first instance, if they refuse then you can look at other options but I doubt if you'll get the full price back any other way.

eBay or local ads for cash on collection maybe

or you could trade it in somewhere like here

    http://uk.webuy.com/search/index.php?postback=1&mode=sell&stext=iphone+4+32gb&section=all

    http://mobilevaluer.com/

MV gives you a list of prices but not that much

If selling on eBay remember they take 10% plus paypal fees
Always post by Special Delivery too, to avoid any scams

    Good luck

  • A brand new unlocked 32g iPhone 4 should go for well over face value on Ebay. Do take 9217niall's advice, though, and make sure you send the device via Royal Mail Special Delivery. Also, make sure you insist on immediate payment by Paypal only. It may cost you in fees but it should stop any timewasters from bidding.

Failing that, I have £50 in my wallet. I'll take it off your hands, cash on delivery. ;P

Why would it go for 'well over face value on ebay' when I can walk into an Apple shop and buy one for face value? Makes no sense to me unless there's a scam involved somewhere.

And to the OP, try seeing if they'll take it back first. I know Apple think they're a bit 'special' but phone retailers will usually only take them back if they're still sealed.

For the same reason as concert tickets go for above face value when they are still available at cost elsewhere - people are essentially lazy. Why don't you just go on Ebay and take a look instead of giving attitude?

But can you, I thought they were still in limited supply, Apple is quoting a 3 week shipping on their web site, so if they are limited stock it could put the price up.

There is also the fact not everyone has an apple store nearby, and yes there's the ebay auction fever factor too.

No attitude, just a point of view. Personally, I don't buy from Ebay as I've seen too many people scammed.
