I was not ignorant,
Er I thought she said throughout the GMTV report that "I had no idea that this could happen.."
Id call it ignorant, only 5 mins on Landlord zone would have taught that indeed this is possible and indeed its entirely legal, until the landlord officially and correctly evicts.
sighs:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Never mind I am a strong believer in Karma.
Suzy is no stranger to the press then.

Suzy Carlita Butler Hi Andy!
Hope you're having a good weekend. My time is limited and my child comes first..I don't have time to waste in trying to answer q's, which, if you have followed the story properly, have been answered already.
She certainly had time to court media & publicity in getting the tenant out when it suited her.
She still thinks q's have been answered, stupid or what.0 -
My god, that is almost delusional...0

Interesting. Can't see this little gem staying up for long.

Hi Nicola,
Thanks for your q's and comments.
Just a quick clarification, Carmen paid me 3 and a half months of the 6 month rental period plus a deposit of 1 month (which is still in the deposit protection scheme). By the time she finally lef...t, she owed me over £4,000 which I will unlikely ever see. She was presented a section 8 on the day the 6 month rental period ended. But for much time previous to this she was saying she would not be leaving or able to pay me. I extended her contract by 1 month in May, just before me and my son went to Spain where we were scouting for a rental property and school for him to relocate as we were launching a fundraising office for the charity i MD in Malaga. At the time, Carmen had been a great tenant, we got on well and she had not missed payments at this stage. June/July and August were unpaid. We needed to sign the extension in May as I would have been abroard when the original agreement ended.
I hope that helps a little.
The simple fact is. It is morally wrong for someone to be legally able to not pay you rent and refuse to leave your home breaching the contract and causing much upset. All we want to do is find a way encourage the law to evict more swiftly.
Have a great weekend, despite this weather!!0 -

Hope you're having a good weekend. My time is limited and my child comes first..I don't have time to waste in trying to answer q's, which, if you have followed the story properly, have been answered already. It is Sunday. I will be ...spending it with family and not on the web. We will have a brief video update tom eve being put up and if anyone wants to ask sensible q's in a proper manner, I will answer them, but as I say, most of them are answered already. What exactly are your q's btw? As the above is full of accusations not q's!
I don't see people on this page as my followers, but supporters of a worthy cause and I am proud and thankful of everyone who has taken the time to join and show their support, and of course, for backing me and helping me get home. To them and for that, I am eternally grateful and feel extremely lucky and blessed, thank you! Now, however, it is about helping and protecting others in a similar situation. It is sad that certain people find it so difficult to believe that there are simply good people in the world who are honest and don't have ulterior motives but actually, genuinely, care for others and want to create a fairer world! Keeping a little bit of your naivity alive and trusting people is not something I will ever give up, and it may mean I was and will be open to people taking advantage but at least it also means, I have many wonderful people surrounding me. I was not ignorant, I was simply trusting. As many of us normal folk are! It's a sad world if we can't be.
Have a happy Sunday, hope you spend it with those you love.See More

Not ignorant. :rotfl:
Suzy Butler (Radio 5) (from 3 mins 18 secs in):
"It becomes an automatic periodic tenancy so it automatically renews itself. Which is something I just wasn't aware of. I was ignorant about it. Obviously now I've learnt. I obviously assumed as I think most people do that once the contract ends.. the person goes, unless you've agreed otherwise and signed another contract."
Stephen Nolan: "There's a big lesson for all of us listening to this, this morning, and that's to look at the fine print of these tenancy agreements and to understand them."
Suzy Butler: Totally-but I'm so shocked that this is actually the law." ect ect ect.
Just a couple of selections from cringing bits from the TV and Radio and newspaper in her role as the non-ignorant landlord.
"Started locking me out." "people pressure making to make her realise what she's doing is wrong." "Given her 10 minutes" "I've asked her to leave today and if she does then obviously I won't be talking to anyone else about the situation (!), and she says she'd like 10 minutes to think about it, so I've given her 10 minutes." "I can't believe that in a civilised society like England there's actually a law that doesn't protect me in this situation; that won't even give me a house to stay in"
(You had a house, Ms Ignorant, but you chose to let it out to a tenant under a legal contract at £1,235 per month. If there were plenty of houses in your area for Government to dish out to people who want housing, then Carmen is unlikely to have been in a situation of paying you £1,235 per month under an AST so she could rent one herself.)
The woman is so caught up in herself and her own interests, with no time for anything but her own self and what she wants. I doubt she has even bothered to read the "too lengthy" (not got the time) (campaign for change even though I'm still ignorant as anything) review at Nearly Legal.0 -

So she spent months "scouting for a rental property....to relocate...launching a fundraising office for the charity I MD in Malaga"
Paid for by the charity? Nice work if you can get it, in fact I could do that, wonder if they've got any jobs going?0 -

From the Charities published accounts:
Travelling and entertaining:
30/6/08 £Nil
30/6/09 £50240 -
Over 4,000?
Wow. The arrears are increasing every time she speaks!
6th Feb to 5th August @ £1,235 pcm = £7,410
3 & 1/2 months rent up front = £4,322.50
£7,410 - £4,322.5 = £3,008.50 + ~£275 for 6th August to when Carmen left.
£3,300 MAX (minus the deposit) £2,000
Perhaps she made £2,000 worth of telephone calls? Hmm, your own fault really for leaving your line active imo.
Oh, Suzy just one more thing.
Based on my figures, and the fact that 3.5 months rent covers the rent for
Feb 6th - March 5th
March 6th- April 5th
April 6th - May 6th
May 6th - May 20th....
WHY DID YOU EXTEND THE TENANCY LATER IN MAY IF SHE HAD NOT PAID YOU THE RENT DUE ON THE 2OTH?0 -

I suppose she decided to kill two birds with one stone and look for the dream Spanish residential property while she was out there. Can't help but think she should have looked for the charity office once she had relocated there.0
