What part has the father of the child played in providing financial support?
Father of the child is Peruvian, and manages the operations in Peru. The 6 centres are run on an individual basis by locals in the region that the centre is.
But to be honest that doesn't really add much useful information to the issue so meh.0 -

And none of it is relevant. If she were a married city banker with 3 kids, she still did wrong!0 -
However, if her small charity may be doing some good work somewhere along the line, I wouldn't want to upset that, although I suspect that she may, by her actions in the UK, have done that herself.
Hmm. The level of ignorance about renting out property is astounding - outrageous. Inexcusable in too many instances, especially when you're entering the business yourself, renting out your property at a rate of £1235 pm you're all to happy to accept, without properly understanding any risks involved.
Nation of idiots, I sometimes think. 10 years of smug political calls stressing the importance of "education, education education" - and this ridiculous reporting in the news and on national TV, with so many people who should be able to immediately grasp the issues involved, taking positions of support behind the home-owner.
That GMTV reporter, and the studio anchors were idiots of the first-order, for all their shock at a landlord not being able to exercise normal home-owner rights over a let-out property. Their total ignorance, with all the sympathy to Suzy Butler's situation, when it was clear to us and others Carmen Nobre was a lawful tenant and there was a legal process to go through and prove. Not clear to many others though, given the number of supporters their campaign page on facebook has achieved. Further distorting the law and the facts.
All GMTV/BBC shock at not being able to exercise home-owners rights over a let property, when it was clear it was being occupied by a legal tenant. On the Nearly Legal blog story, even Tessa Shepperson in the comments section said some of the BBC team were quite surprised when she told them Carmen Nobre was not a squatter. Stephen Nolan didn't particularly do himself any credit either, sympathising with her and excitedly waiting for a result after the landlord told him she was outside the property and had given her tenant 10 minutes to make a decision on whether she was leaving.
I'm not particularly impressed there is a thumbnail-pic-link (favourite page) to their charity facebook page on their "An end to squatters rights what about homeowners rights?" facebook campaign page.
Also she bought the house in 2005. With her Peru involvement, I have to wonder if this really is the first time she has rented the house out to a tenant (in 2010). Or if it's just the first time she's had a problem doing so. That's just me wondering.0 -
Jeremy hinted that this boards actions had lead to threats against Suzy's child, which I'm sure is not the case. Mind you, he shut the fork up when I mentioned that Stormfront weren't exactly full of praise for Carmen when he and Suzy were inviting film crews to do the close-ups of the house number, broadcast her mobile number and email etc etc.0

Also the situation is being covered on this blog.
First entry below quoted below, and I'll let anyone who wants to follow it up find the second entry themselves.

Is Landlord Guilty in Brighton Eviction Case? (Part One)
A recent eviction case in Brighton has caused all sorts of controversy when a tenant, branded as a squatter, refused to move out of her property to rent.
Private landlord, Suzy Butler, was outraged when, on returning from a trip to Peru helping homeless people, she ended up homeless herself when her tenant refused to move out. The case was widely publicised involving the local paper and GMTV who brought a film crew around to the rental property and filmed tenant and landlord having a heated discussion in the living room.
But this case is controversial because she wasn’t really a squatter, yet has been branded as such before millions of people. And she seemed to have a very valid shorthold landlord tenancy agreement. Now, with vast swathes of the nation who watched GMTV thinking she’s a squatter, isn’t this harassment? And what about the Protection from Eviction Act?0 -
Oh good god. Seriously. I didn't think this sordid affair could get much worse..

Some landlords, such as television presenter John Stapleton, who has a buy-to-let flat in Richmond...
Assuming he still has it he could have been a LL for 5 years and still doesn't know the rules. Either that or he feigned ignorance for the sake of the GMTV piece.
There may well be another John Stapleton but I can't find one that appears as remotely famous as the GMTV guy.
Edit: scrap that. It IS the same John Stapleton and he owns[ed?] three.

If there have been personal threats against either party, particularly with kids, then that is foul & totally unacceptable.
That said, Ms Butler took the step of putting her story out for all to see (parading her son) and in doing so you always run the risk of attracting the attention of the the nutter element, who I'd say tend to frequent forums other than this one.0 -
I strugglr with this. On the one hand, I thing that we should stick to the issue at hand. But then I see her doing the "single mum, charidee worker etc" and I just think, f*** it, gloves are off. Particularly when I think of how Carmen was treated.0
