Thank you, thank you for sharing your story. I found it hugely inspirational!
Your experiences mirror a lot of my own, so I'm taking hope that like you I can resolve my own debt mountain. I've been chipping away at it for almost 1.5 yrs now, and I'm determined to keep going, but its not made easy by the behaviour of some creditors, who despite me keeping to repayment schedules and agreements seem to think its ok to keep piling on the pressure and demanding more.
It's taken me almost 18 months to get over the chill cold fear I felt everytime the post dropped on the mat or the phone rang and today was another day when I had a sharp reminder.
Your post really helped to cheer me, so thanks!:j0 -

Quick update
Have received physical letter from 'Keyes Whitlock & Company' so DPM letter has gone off to them.
Have received standard 'threat-o-gram' from AIC who accused me of showing 'no serious intention of paying me debt'. Despite accepting payments from me for the last 10 months!
Have sent off response advising them yet again I cannot pay more than I can afford.

Hi SnV,
You have to wonder what these DCA personel (to keep it polite) have got between their ears.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

Hi Consumerist
:rotfl:
I just love the thought of them rubbing their brain cells together working out which template letter to send next. It must be difficult for them having to come up with something original.
Still, all quiet on the western front but I know I shouldn't draw the attention of the evil eye!

Hi All
Today I have received letters from NDRMoney regards some of the accounts I have with Shop Direct. I know that NDR are Shop Directs in house debt recovery team. Looks like I will have to fire off my DMP letters to this lot now.
Ho Hum
I do find it funny how they pretend to be acting on behalf of their 'client' yet the envelopes that they send have the same address printed on the back as Shop Direct (but the address on their letters are different!).
No more grumbling from AMEX/AIC recently nor have I heard anything from PaydayUK's inhouse DCA either.
Yet the DMP is rolling steadily on.

I spoke too soon!!
AIC have given up!! The account with AMEX has now been handed to Nemans DCA!
So the usual threats, and DCA dance starts afresh!
AIC were rather naughty (should I be surprised) with their timing as I get the letter from Newmans on the same day my DMP Standing Order to AIC leaves my account.
No notice of assignment/goodbye/hello letter either. Just "pay us the full amount in 7 days or we may take further action" from Newmans.
Another round of DMP payments out today though and another month closer to being debt free.

Hi All
Just thought I'd do a quick update on how things are going. I received a letter from AMEX this week registering my complaint about how my account is being handled by their lapdog DCA's. I don't know if the 'spanking' from the OFT has had anything to do with this but their behaviour has changed slightly.
Still getting nowhere with Shop Direct, who have passed my accounts to their inhouse DCA's who have now been informed of my DMP so expect this to be passed to an external DCA in the near future.
And Payday UK are also being difficult and have now threatened me with a doorstep visit, which has been responded to with a tasty letter from me!
Other than that things have settled down with the DMP. All other creditors have backed off and I haven't heard anything from them and they have accepted my payments and frozen interest.
Been very busy at work hence lack of posts but hopefully will see the benefits of this with OT payments in time for Christmas!

Hi All
Time for my monthly update!
I have finally managed to get an agreement with AMEX! Am now paying monthly in line with what I can afford. It has only taken them 6 months to finally come around. They have not agreed to freeze interest though but have charges so a bit of work still to do but am getting somewhere finally!!
I have heard nothing from Payday UK but they are still accepting my payments. I am expecting this to be farmed off to a DCA but we shall see.
The only ones still being complete pains are Shop Direct and Santander who have completely ignored my letters and just sent standard threat-o-grams.
They have though finally started to default me on the accounts I have with them so again hopefully they may start to realise that they will get what I can afford or nothing or they will sell the accounts to a DCA.
But thats the bad news!
The good news is that everything else has settled down with my other creditors and I am finally starting to get some serious breathing space. I have been getting some O/T at work too which means I will hopefully be able to pay my debts off more quickly than I anticipated.
If anyone is in a similar position I can only say advise to take action earlier rather than later. I really do regret not doing this sooner and I would have had a lot less debt to pay.
