Hi, Does anyone know how long it takes after the first interview for Income Support payments to start? I had my interview on 3/08/2010 an haven't heard anything yet, the lady said it was quite straightforward but I didn't think to ask then. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. Did you receive a letter first or was the money just paid in?0 -
Money paid in and then letter 2 days later, mine took about 3 weeks to sort out.0

Hi,
I was just about to ask the same question, I initially claimed 7th July 2010, had an interview 10th July 2010. I have phoned them 5 times in the past 2 weeks and get nowhere other than it is in progress, it will be 8 weeks next week.
Hope you get yours faster than mine has taken, good luck.0 -
My daughter is still waiting and she lost her job just before the summer holidays and is still waiting for money..I thought by looking on line she would have got about £64 a week but the last person she spoke to on the phone said its per fortnight?? ( she's 24 with a 5 yr old daughter) she's only getting CTC at the moment and is struggling for money but £35 a week isn't going to go very far. Full rent but council tax have said she has to pay £75 a month when i thought she would not have had to pay that either??0

Hi,
I phoned them today and was told it will be done when it reaches the top of the pile and that they can't check how near that is! The man did say that it should be a maximum of four weeks, So I'll just have to wait a bit longer.0 -

No!! Income support is £65.45 per week, but some people have it paid every fortnight £130.90, and she will be entitled to full council tax benefit, although it does depend on savings (think over 16k!!). I fully understand how she must be feeling, just dreading my mortgage coming out of my account in 2 weeks as ctc does not even cover the bills.
When I phoned the office again today I did say I appreciated how polite the customer service staff were, but if I did not hear anything by the end of next week I felt compelled to complain about the time it is taking to deal with my uncomplicated claim. Fingers crossed it will speed up the claim... or not ;-)0 -
They delayed mine and it was only down to me phoning the delivery centre every day and they sorted it out! They were a lot better than the local jobcentre! It should be around 2 weeks after your interview as its paid 2 weeks in arrears, other than that you should be paid if its gone through! Phone and check though as they try to fob you off a lot! x0

she will get £65 per wk single parent IS.she will also get full rent paid by HB and Full Council tax paid by CTB.also still will get CTC/CB...probably be better off or work part time for less than 16hrs,they discount ur first £10 earnings this way..good luck..keep ringing to bug them and they will sort it sooner..adviceforall wrote: »My daughter is still waiting and she lost her job just before the summer holidays and is still waiting for money..I thought by looking on line she would have got about £64 a week but the last person she spoke to on the phone said its per fortnight??
