Flash messages - pls can someone explain what they are

I ordered a tesco only sim deal from tesco mobile on line. Its a rolling contract with unlimited texts and 500 free minutes.

I went into a tesco store and bought a Nokia 2690.
When I send text messages the menu lists ordinary messages and "flash messages"

Please can anyone tell me what a "flash message" is?

I am wondering if the unlimited texts are for 'flash messages' or ordinary messages.

I am confused, sorry to sound dense.

Flash messages are text messages that are instantly displayed upon reception.

.... according to the manual page on the web for that phone.
