Anyone ever tried Coutts bank

I am fed up with the lack of efficiency of the high street banks and not being able to talk to anyone (ie a named individual at the bank) so am thinking about private banking like Coutts.
Has anyone ever tried this?
What does it cost? Is it better/more efficient. Do you get any "perks" for your money?
What I am trying to say, how does it compare to the ordinary high street banks?
Has anyone ever tried this?

What's the point? They have so few branches, that surely the thing you are looknig for - personalised service - is kinda moot.
If you are looking for that sort of service and have the funds to back it, go with HSBC Premier. Branches everywhere.
Statement of interest: I have a Coutts company credit card from work.0 -
Coventry Building Society is the next best thing

I believe the Queen has there her savings, but you will need to be a high net worth individual to start talking with them. Even so, they may show you the door.0 -

The requirements before you can bank with them are pretty steep.
If your salary is over £75k or you have savings (with them) of £50k you can get a private bank account with natwest (I expect most banks have similar set ups). That would at least get you a personal contact at the bank if you have problems. You still have to deal with counter staff though!0 -
Unless you're a millionaire forget about Coutts, i have a friend who has an account with them but his parents are super rich which is why he has ended up with one and to be honest i think he only banks with them so he can show off how rich he is when out with other people as he pretty much always pays with his card and flashes it around a bit. From what i hear HSBC Private bank are pretty good, i'm not used them personally but i used to have a normal current account with HSBC, must say i wasn't overly impressed with them from my experience but i have clients who are with HSBC Private Bank and they seem pretty impressed with it, but again you have to have a lot of money to bank with them.0

Citibank offer their citigold account where if you do not meet their net worth criteria you can pay £25 per month for a UK based account manager.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.
