Have you been to your bank? This happened with me so went to my bank and it was solved in a week, was sent a letter with a cheque for the money and an apology.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
I went to the bank where I withdrew the money and they said I have to go to my own bank (which is not local anymore)
Plus I am going on holiday tonight so no chance of getting there.
If Natwest is part of RBS why cant they resolve it?0 -
They count the money at the end of the day. So if it different to amount given to you. They will give the money back.
Mine went straight into my account.
If its just one error should be quite quick. If it happend to many people it may take longer.
However if you have to get more money out and it results you going over drawn etc. I would not expect you to be charged as its the banks fault.0 -
Im not sure if you can, all i know is the banks have a systems of raising disputes between them (for instances like this) and that how i got my money back.Back by no demand whatsoever.0

To put it simply, the bank who's ATM made the error, cannot simply take your word for it.
You must ring up your own bank who fill in an ATM Claim form, which basically asks you about the withdrawal that you made, eg date of the withdrawal, how much you asked for, how much the ATM gave...This form eventually gets sent to the branch where the withdrawal was made and is checked against the ATM when it is balanced. If the figure is more than what it should be, then there's your error hopefully and they will compensate you.
The form for RBS/Natwest does not require a signature from the customer making the claim, therefore you can simply just ring them up and get one filled out over the phone. The whole process takes about a week or 2 and depends on when the bank in question balances it's ATMs.
This procedure is more or less the same with all banks.Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion

I have an ATM question.
I'm a Natwest customer, using a Natwest debit card. I went to a Natwest ATM in a station and asked for £100. It only gave me £40 but the mini statement said £40. I'll be keeping an eye on the account and have got the mini statement safe in case I need to use it as evidence but am a bit concerned about this maybe missing £60.0 -
Maybe it only had £40 of money left in it? What time of day did you use the machine? The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago. The reason was that the amounts have changed position. What was the £100 position is now the £40 position If like me you've been used to tapping the eg third from the top right hand button without giving it much thought for £100 and that's now the £40 position - you get £40.
Did that make sense ? It did as I wrote it.....................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I don't remember things like ATM positions; I can't even dial a phone without looking but I looked at the screen and was sure it said £100.0
