Orange mobile - the worst service provider ever?
Dear All,
If anyones thinking of changing their mobile provider soon, could I take this oportunity to advise you to STAY CLEAR OF ORANGE MOBILE. This is for a number of reasons:
- Very poor fluxuating signal in central London
- Frequent dropped calls
- Frequent voice messages from people because when they call, even if they are sat next to you (i have tested this) and you both have a full signal, they do not connect.
- Friendly, but eventually useless call staff who:
- have blamed me for a the poor signal - i like in central london!
- tell me that my internet service is down for 12 days - yes 12 DAYS!
- make frequent promices, to reinstate services yet don't do (i'm on my 9th call in the past 36hrs after trying to buy a small internet package which i still can't access)
- cut me off last month having paided all my bills to date
- AND finally for selling me an 'unlimited' internet bundle that ISNT UNLIMTED - thus defeating the very definition of the service that they are supposed to be providing me with!
There is no particular goal to topic of discussion here. Just an open rant to Orange Mobile for being the crappiest provider i have ever had to unfortunate displeasure to deal with - and that you, the wise money-saving-experts might like to avoid this provider.
Anyone else had these issues?
Kind Regards,
James

They are indeed very poor.
I bought a new smart phone (desire) 2 months ago and had very frequent issues sending receiving text messages / calls straight to voicemail etc.
Now today (I'm in East Yorkshire) I can't receive or send Picture messages (yesterday they were fine so I know it's not my apn settings).
Just 1 year 10 months to go ....0 -
There was a nationwide problem with GPRS today, affecting the internet and MMS, Orange are due to merge with TMobiles network very soon which should alleviate any problems0

Well, James, over the next 2 pages you will see rants at Vodafone, 3 and O2. Everyone has a horror story to tell and one man's poor provider is another man's great service.
On the matter of unlimited internet, have you not read that every service provider is restricting their "unlimited" service to either 500Mb or 1 Gb? (I agree that "unlimited" should be what it says on the tin, but if they are all at it, where do you go?)
I have a Voda connection and an Orange one too. Orange is hopeless round the house, but I have to say that there are places where I don't get Voda and Orange is perfect. Black holes.
So how do you make Orange better? Dead easy - just take out a 3 contract and then try to deal with their CS dept or, at contract end time, try to cancel with a commission earning incentivised rep in the Indian call centre.0 -

Giffgaff is the way forward. If you get one of their goodybags, the internet really is unlimited(no fair use policy).

I rang Carphone Warehouse on the 15th August and bought a phone on the Orange network with unlimited mobile data access. A week later got a letter from Orange saying I had a 500mb limit. I'm trying to find out from Orange when they introduced this limit to see if Carphone Warehouse were not telling the truth.
Even if I had unlimited broadband when I joined how can I not have it a week later. If I changed the contract surely they would be down on me like a ton of bricks.
UPDATE
Just spoke to Orange and they say they have had the 500MB limit for some time. So it appears that Carphone Warehouse did not tell the whole truth.0 -
I'm having some issues with their charges on PAYG (internet usage, 20p/min for calls and 10p for texts) but am trying to remedy this by using different sims. I use less than 15mins/month, 15texts/month and internet mostly accidental (something about 'Bright Topup Rewards' not so much bright as more my own fault for thinking it was a good deal)...
Just means the occasional call I make or text I sent is sometimes from a different number. I'm hoping giffgaffs unlimited internet should last me till well past my current goodybag as I would like to use the net more on my mobile (the credit *should* last me for about 2-3 months as well).
I've tried Lebara too, but since my infrequent use of the sim (inactive for months), the sim's apparently been disabled. Mainly used them for their awesome rates to European countries (I usually use Skype, but texting and calling a EUR mobile was cheaper with that sim).
I also find I need more mobiles to keep up with the different sims (:0
