I've found that on other forums that i use that are powered by vbulletin, when I get my email notification of a new mesasge via Hotmail, I get a summary of what the message is and who it is from & in what forum - when I get notification from MSE, it just tells me that I have a message in whatever forum and to click "here" to find out more.
Is it something activateable, or is it a complete nono ?

Murphy it used to be like that but was stopped due to the fact that a post may be deleted between you getting the email and reading it therefore the content of the deleted post would be in the email.
As the post, thread could have been deleted for legal reasons this had to be changed.
If I'm wrong, sra will no doubt put me right0 -
That makes some sort of sense - but as I say other vbulletin forums do give you that "preview" facility (& very handy it is to IMO).
the word of SRA is eagerly awaited

That's a shame.
So the decent lose out due to the scumbags (once again) & and the low life scum sucking legal profession go drat at another loophole being closed to stop them filling their snout in the trough.
Other sites do it, this one doesn't, c'est la vie.
