CSA Payments stop at 19?

We were going to just stop the DD but if its the law then they will just take it out of his earnings! If it is the law, then fine, not a problem but I just want a clear 100% concise answer instead of all these conflicting answers - its seems as if it varies from one CSA advisor to the other!0

I know what you mean but I would take what they have written as the truth rather than what their advisors say.
I'd say it's up to them to prove in writing that it's anything different to what they already have in writing.0 -
If any member of staff at the CSA tells you that child maintenance will continue past 19 then please ask to speak to their line manager - it's simply incorrect, and anyone given duff information needs further training.
Payments may continue past this point if there are arrears, however the ongoing liability will most definitely stop at that point.0 -
I hope you're all correct - if anyone has actually ceased paying for a 19 year old currently in education or is still paying, your comments and feedback would be greatly received.0

I am in discussion with the CSA about this. They confirmed it is 19, but it takes them up to 12 weeks to do anything about it and in the meantime they said I should continue to pay !!!0 -

I wouldn't.
Surely if it takes them 12 weeks to figure out that you should stop paying they're not going to be able to enforce payments (that aren't actually due) any quicker. And if they start hassling you for payments you just make a complaint.
Also if you do carry on paying how long do you think it will take them to provide you with a refund for the overpaid 12 weeks?0 -

With regard to the refund. We finally stopped paying CM through DEO today
:D:D:D:D:beer::j for one son although case was closed on 22nd June 2011. They called us today to say details are with Finance Dept and refund will be issued shortly. :T HTH
Unfortunately we are now just waiting to hear about this new case the OH ex is trying to re-open for other 18 year twin.If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.;)0 -

She wanted to take a gap year to travel and now she says she wants to go to college for a year to do a BTEC or AS levels. She doesn't turn 19 until next summer. As it is I appear to be facing another year of CM payments of £400 per month that I can't afford.
This makes me really angry as why would anyone with 4 A levels and a Uni place want to do more A levels or a BTEC. The PWC has a full time time a house with no mortgage and can afford to give the CM to my D.
This can't be what the CSA was set up to do, can it?
Hiya, your daughter is making a foolish decision, I would point out to her that this is the last year that university fees will be affordable, from September 2012 she'll start paying up to £10,000 per year!
A no - brainer if she is offered a place now!0 -

If your case is just regular maintenance, and their are no arrears due then I would recommend cancelling your DD/SO after the first payment after the QC's birthday. The case should be flagged to be closed at that point, so by the time they try contacting you about the cancelled payment they should be able to work out that there's nothing owed at this point. It's quicker (and better for their staff) to not have to worry about organising a refund and a collection of an overpayment via the PWC.0 -
