Trapped with Virgin (moving house)

Hi all, I'm moving house and having problems with Virgin. I have 3 months left on my current contract with Virgin media (home phone, broadband and TV). I'm moving home at the end of the month and contacted Virgin to switch my services to the new address. Virgin have told me that to switch to a new address I have to take out a 12 month contract. If I don't want to do that I have to pay a disconnection fee which is the remainder of the contract plus £24 as I have not given them 1 month's notice.

I don't want to stay with Virgin, I've had numerous billing and customer service problems, and Sky seem to be better value for money as I want to upgrade to a sports package. Virgin are unwilling and unable to match Sky's price and service.

I contacted Consumerline NI to get some advice and they told me that my hands are tied. When I took the contract out, the small print basically said the contract was tied to the address rather than the customer. Is there any way I can get out of this twisted trap Virgin have set or am I fighting a losing battle?

Thanks,

Jamie.

Put your Virgin phone, broadband and tv on the lowest packages and just pay the last 3 monts rental as normal. It will save you at least £24.

Don't forget to give them a months notice just after the start of month 2

Why would virgin go to the expense of moving your services just for you to leave and go to sky. You chose to move so you need to pay.

You signed the Virgin Contract without reading the small print!
Its there for a reason and they wont let you out as it disadvantages them
