Seems good we paid 3900 exc vat for an Vaillant eco tec plus 831 however we had an old back boiler system completely taken out and all brand new pipework including 28mm gas main and a couple of new rads.0

Yes they all seem about right.
Personally out of those 3 I would go for the Vaillant every time.0 -
Hi
Vaillant evey time, scrap the boiler buddy in favour of a Magnaclean Twin tech or the standard Magnaclean. Boiler buddies are dated now and are only fitted if free or there is no space on for the installation for a Magnaclean. As your installation is a conversion there will always be space to fit one. Does the installer offer servicing? If he does get him to fix the price of the services for the 5 years and then you know your warranty is safe and you know what you are going to pay. The servicing should be no more that £60 inc vat fixed for 5 years.
Also the difference between the Vaillant Plus 831 and the Vaillant Pro 28 is negligible so if you wanted to save a bit go for the Pro 28.
Good luck, quote looks good other wise.0 -

Good afternoon: if you want to stay up to date...bin the Magnaleak (no longer used by BG) and get this (now standard on the OH's installs or the customer can opt for the BB). Btw...choosing the Pro over the Plus is a false economy....questionable info on the BB to boot. Servicing costs will vary according to your location in the UK and service requirements.

If a magnaclean leaks its due to installation error, not uncommon. Spirotraps I can't comment on as I have never seen enough of them sold or fitted and as a new product I like to see them on the market awhile before I would recommend them. I have held one and it had a reduced capacity for holding waste and the magnet is in a fixed position and cannot be removed making it difficult to clean (just my opinion). Still the company is reputable and I've seen hundreds of Spirovents (not magnetic) fitted to Housing association properties without any trouble.
If you can account for the £165.21+vat price difference between the Vaillant Pro 28 and the Plus 831 please tell me. If the size on the heating is enough for the Pro 28 (its the same on the 831) to handle then a Plus 831 seems like overspend for a very small increase in hot water flow and the 831 can only modulate down 0.3 kw less than the Pro 28. I know its a better boiler but is it a near £200 on a job better boiler?0 -

I suggest you continue googling for the answers...problems with the Magnaclean have been detailed on other forums eg. DIYnot as has the recommendation of the Vaillant Ecotec Plus over the Pro on this forum.

There are quite a few firms offering boiler swaps/installations power flush etc (including some pipe work from £400) so I’d check those out..? price in today’s market seems a little high… e.g. ?

There are many other's these are just to give you an idea. You should always check that they are covered by the appropriate governing body i.e. gas safe. Some people (mainly plumbers) will say you cannot do them at that price simple answer is you can as in the main they would take on maybe one, two days depending on experience and ability of worker’s to fully install test etc that would still be £600 + per week think the days of installers getting a £1000 per install are long gone…?0 -

Good afternoon: always use tradespersons recommended to you by a source you trust. I can assure you that experienced RGIs in the south are billing more than £120 per day and don't need to compete with those 'installers' who flogs their 'gas services' on fleabay.;)

I'm sorry but you are wrong.

They are a nearly identical but for a few small differences. The flap on the front is one.
I googled that one ;-)0
