But the camera was not bought direct from Casio, the OP says that he bought it from Amazon. The fact remains that the OP's contract is with Amazon - not Casio - so it should be Amazon to whom he is returning the faulty goods, not the manufacturer.

He needs to point out to Amazon that there is a 2 year guarantee on the camera and get them to sort it with the manufacturer.

Okay, so I'm feeling pretty good I'm going to get this resolved:T - but what do you recommend as my course of action now? Am I supposed to go back to Amazon and tell them Casio have a 2 year warranty (confirmed by email this morning) so it's up to them to sort it with Casio? Or should I go direct to Casio?

I think I'm kinda torn between what is likely the quickest route to resolution (casio direct) and the "correct" route - through Amazon as my contract is with them.

    Right, I'm confused again!!:o

Just go direct with Casio, what's the point sending it to Amazon as they will just pass it back to Casio for repair then back to Amazon then back to you

Thanks, this was news to me.

OP - probably easier to just deal with Casio direct, life's too short!

Yes, news to me too. I'm going to send the camera to Casio - life is too short. But have emailed Amonzon just now for clarification on their policy pointing out that under EU law they should be honouring a 2 year warranty, not the one year they quoted me.

I guess I'm just really bloomin anoyed at Amazon. I have done nothing but spend money with them and recommend them to other people. Then the one time something goes wrong I dont find them very helpful. And ok, so I accept I need to prove to them the camera had an inherent fault but they couldve been a bit more help. And if they are in fact covered by EU law then they told me a fib. And thats not nice.
