The Money Diet

Do any of you DFW'ers have this book of Martin's? I'm looking to buy it, but in true DFW style I want to make sure it's worth spending the money!

What does it include that I won't find on this website?

  • I have the book but as I am bankrupt I find most of the info a bit pointless. I can't save (no spare cash), can't have a loan or credit card and to be honest I am not sure about the rest of it as I lost interest.

I know others on here love it, perhaps they could explain why.

It's been a while since I read it - I got the book before I discovered the forum. It's great on general principles but doesn't contain current info like rates. I'd go ahead and get it - it's entertaining too.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

Its obviously not as upto date as the site - but its portable, inspirational and makes bwoody good sense.

After you have finished reading it - in true MSE style Ebay it...However I kept mine as its a great referral tool.

    I would recommend it!

I've got to disagree. The site is 100% better - I like the human contact and I don't find Martin's book as entertaining and helpful as anything by say Alvin Hall or Jane Furnival. I hate the paper it's printed on too.
    Don't all jump on me!

I have mine next to my bedside table, makes a lot of sense. Since I have read it and applied all that is relevant to my life, would you like to have my copy LewisC? PM me and I'll send you my copy free of charge!

Blimey, thanks very much! However, I do feel a bit bad mooching it for free... or should I go true MSE style and take it for free? :D:confused:

Well if you are in the DFW board you should get it for free... so PM me your address and I'll send it to you tomorrow! After you have read it and made notes and applied all that is relevant to you you can pass it forward to another DFW how about that? ;)

Obviously Martin wouldn't get any royalties and his book rating won't go up but I don't think he'll mind!

I'm going tomorrow to the post office so PM asap, cheers! Anne
