  • I have vague memories of reading that 3 mobile BB does not work with Vista: i use it with Windows XP/Internet Explorer and LINUX/Firefox with no problem.

You really haven't given anything to go on..

    Did it ever work?

Have you tried uninstalling the software and deleting the dialup connection then plugging the dongle back it to let it set everything up again?

    Some basic tests...
After connecting open up a command prompt and type in..

    ipconfig /all

    and post the results

    Then try...
    tracert bbc.co.uk

    if that doesn't work try
    tracert 212.58.224.138

    Sorry about that
It had been workinf fine on Vista for the past 3 years or so, no problems, only started about 2 weeks back. No changes have been made to my computer, did not work in my house even though i have good signal, took it over to my sisters 3 miles away poor signal but worked on the same machine using the same settings

I have unistalled and reinstalled and everything is still ok apart from i cant browse the internet
I can ping to google within 5 seconds of connecting though cmd but when i try again i cannot ping to google
  • It is a different matter if it has worked in the past.

Have you checked 3's website for upgrades in your area? My service was slow with many disconnects when they were improving the network in my vicinity.

Remove 3 software then go into tools, then internet options, then programs, and reset the web settings then go to advanced and restore defaults.

then re install your 3 software and see if that sorts things out for you.

Let me get this straight - you say it is reporting a good signal at your house but doesn't work. You cart your machine to your sisters where the signal is poor and it works.

If that is the case then it is clear that there is nothing wrong with your machine and the fault lies with your local cell - it is connecting at the radio level but the cell must have lost its backhaul to the internet.

You didn't post the ipconfig or tracert results I asked for. They may shed some light on this but essentially I think it is 3's problem and they need to fix their cell. You could try it somewhere between your place and your sisters where it is likely to connect to yet another cell and see if it works there which would more or less prove the problem lies with your local cell.

You can use http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/ to find the cell reference when reporting the fault to 3.
